Locksmith Blog 15th August 2008
Well, back to work this week and my feet haven't touched the floor! Not helped by the backlog of work from last week, but very busy anyway. I've ended up doing 13 to 15 hour days all week and I'm starting to feel quite tired!
I had all manner of locksmith jobs this week, (that's what makes this job so interesting) from your average upvc door mechanism replacements, upvc door lock replacements, lockouts, replacement push locks for sliding patio doors, a few mortice locks to pick and replace, to window handles to pick and replace, hasp and staples to be fitted to metal doors and a mortice lock to fit to an aluminium door.
As I say, I had a mortice lock to fit from scratch on an aluminium door, in Streetly. The customers on this job had phoned a few locksmiths, all of whom, for some reason, either said, no, they couldn't do it, or just didn't turn up. To be honest, they're always a bit of a tricky job. They're also always a bit nerve wracking, because if you measure anything wrong and drill there, unlike wood, there's no way of rectifying it! Still, you just have to take that little bit more time and make sure you do measure correctly! All in all, an enjoyable job though. It's always satisfying when you complete a job that others seem to think of as too difficult!
