Locksmith Blog

Well, the most important thing to mention in this blog are the new doors we're now fitting "in-house".
It's all a bit like coming full-circle. I first got into locksmith work many years ago when I was a carpenter. I was setting up a business with another carpenter and we were just going to be door fitters and only do doors. Hanging new doors and fitting door frames. I looked into learning about locksmithing as an add on. However I got hooked and as I got a better and beter name for myself, I stopped the carpentry work and set up as a locksmith full time. That is how Arden Locksmiths was born!
We've gone from strength to strength since then and obviously now have a very good and unrivaled reputation.
Fitting new doors, be they front doors, internal doors etc is something I always get asked about still, but haven't done as I just haven't had the time. Unfortunately, speaking to some customers, they've had problems getting some carpenters to turn up on time (or at all!), so I've decided to get them all done ourselves. I've also spoken to some customers who have been quoted (and in some cases paid) ridiculous amounts for new doors.
By doing the work ourselves, we can guarentee the quality of workmanship and will stick to our usual, exeptionally high standards. We will be working to set prices, as always, so can basically quote there and then for you.
Also, because we are a mobile business, not a shop, we can keep our prices lower than most. All the doors will be at below rrp with a very reasonable fiiting/labour charge.
Take a look at our Door Fitting page by clicking here.
I'm obviously a fully qualified carpenter as well as a locksmith and our  carpenter and cabinet maker Rob (of Rob Lennon Carpentery) will be doing the door fitting. I've known Rob for many years and he's a fantastic carpenter aswell as an all round decent bloke (though don't tell him!) so we can guarentee the highest standards of workmanship.
So in effect, it's a case of getting two for one. A very experienced carpenter and locksmith. Not only will you get your door fitting done to a very high standard, but we can also advise you on which locks and door furniture you require and why.
We fit good quality, wooden doors (not upvc I'm afraid) and frames, both internal and external. We can supply both hardwood doors and softwood doors, oak doors or (probably the most poular these days) hardwood doors with an oak veneer. These are fantastic looking, quality doors, but more affordable than solid oak!
We are offering our door fitting service over all of our usual areas, or further afield (basically we will cover the whole of the midlands!) for bigger jobs.
We fit new internal doors, new external doors (new front door / new back door), fit new door frame and linings.
I'm still in the midst of sorting this website out, so when I get chance, over the next few weeks, I'll try and get some pictures posted up and any more info I can think of up on the site.
We work in a very easy, customer friendly way. Basically, I will come out to your house, we can go through your options (which style of door you want etc) and I can leave you with a catalogue to choose from. This will give you time to decide, rather than hurrying you to choose there and then. When you've chosen, I'll pop back, we can measure up properly and get your new doors fitted for you.
So if you want a new front door or the doors changed in your house, just give us a call.
