Well, I must say,I for one am really enjoying the light nights! It really does make the locksmith's life so much easier. I've got a silly head torch I have to wear when it's dark, which is ok, but it's much easier when it's actually light.
As ever, I seem to be run off my feet, which I can't moan about. The sudden change in temperature always seems to lead to problems with pvc doors. The metal inside them expands or contracts depending on the temperature (unlike wooden doors which expand/contract due to how wet/dry it is) which can cause problems with the locks fitting into the keeps. What then seems to happen is that people just "whack" the handle up to get it locking. Unfortuneately, this inevitably leads to the gearbox in the pvc door mechanism breaking. It really is much easier to phone us when it first needs adjusting, not to mention cheaper!
Just thought I'd talk about our wooden door fitting service this week. Not only are we locksmiths and wooden door fitters, but we also supply and fit a very wide range of door furniture on our wooden doors. Going from the rustic black iron door furniture to solid bronze door handles etc.
We are so busy now as wooden door fitters (as wel as all the usual locksmith work) that I'm setting up a new website dedicated to just supplying and fitting doors. It will still be us, all the standardsof work etc the same, but with the complete range of hardwood and oak internal and external doors.
I can then put our full range of front doors and door handles on the site, with prices, so you can choose which you want from the comfort of your home! It's all taking a while to do though, as anyone who's ever set up a website will understand, so please be patient!
I'm getting some photos together of jobs we've done, from rustic cottage type oak doors to smart town type front doors, with half-moon glass. I will also put some of the hardwood internal doors we have fitted on the site. Again going from the rustic to contemporary styles. So watch this space...!
